The Halifax International Writers’ Festival aims to bring a diverse group of Canadian and international authors together to present their work . It is of particular importance to the festival to not only celebrate the excellence of our authors but to also provide venues for authors who have not yet had the opportunity to present their work to a wider audience.

The 2006 Halifax International Writers’ Festival featured 14 authors including Mark Strand, Joseph Boyden, Bapsi Sidwha, Ami McKay, and Ken Babstock. In 2006 we added a sold out masterclass series.
